Author Arlether Wilson Interview
The Synopsis…
Rewriting the Script is a soul stirring and motivational story of a girl abandoned and abused in the foster care system. After being placed back into a community plagued by crime, drugs, violence, and prostitution, she decided to choose a different path. Life was difficult. However, she was determined not just to survive, but to change the course of her family’s history. Rewriting the Script is a heartwarming story of desperation, grief and triumph. This courageous girl’s story confirms that it is possible for anyone to Rewrite Their Life’s Script.
2. Was it easy to repeat the cycle of teen pregnancy?
I guess it was easier than I thought. I was really naive about that area. I got pregnant after my first time and I didn’t even know it. I had so many plans and for a moment I thought I had to give it all up. In the end, I realized that my son was a blessing. I thank God for my children everyday.
3. What do you want readers to take away?
No matter where you come from or what you go through you can get passed it. However, none of it is possible without faith, persistence and belief in oneself.
4. Your life is really a book. Why are you opening it up for the world to read?
I have been a police officer for over 15 years so I’m rarely shocked. However, working with abused women and children for so long I realized that many of them are afraid to ask for help. Or, they think that they are the only one whose walked in those shoes. I want the world to know that sometimes our struggles only make us stronger. More importantly, we all have a purpose and sharing my experiences may just help someone feel free to do the same. That alone makes it all worth while.
5. Please mention the moment you felt the greatest victory.
Honestly, I felt my greatest victory when I was able to rear my children in a more positive environment…..I finally created a generational gap. Both of my children are healthy, high school graduates and in college. Plus they truly understand and appreciate why I do what I do….that’s the icing on the cake.
